Once i had it set up and the drain tube ran the way i needed to, i set it up to keep my plant room at a tolerable level now that the humidity on the east coast is getting up there. Paperwork says the pump is able to move water up 16ft; currently have this running up 7' with no issues at all. The pump engages automatically when the internal reservoir is full, but you can also start it up on your own if you want to drain said reservoir before full.

My current dehumidifier has a gravity fed drain and the hose is always in my way, the pump is nice because I can drain it to the sink right beside where it is set up. I didn't test but I was impressed that it says it can pump up to a 16ft elevation.
